Embedded firmware development

Reliable, maintainable firmware for microcontrollers. Written by the same engineers who designed the board it runs on.

What you get

Firmware that your own team can maintain

We write firmware for STM32, ESP32, Nordic and other microcontrollers, bare-metal or on an RTOS.

The code is structured, documented and under version control from the first commit. You own all of it.

Because we also design the hardware, pins, timings and power modes are agreed before the first board is made.

Scope

What firmware development includes

Core

Drivers and application logic

The code that makes the hardware do its job, built on a clean, testable structure.

  • Bare-metal and RTOS firmware
  • Drivers for sensors and peripherals
  • Motor control and power management
  • State machines and control loops
  • Unit and hardware-in-the-loop tests

Connectivity

Wireless and wired protocols

Getting data in and out of the device reliably, with the power budget in mind.

  • BLE, Wi-Fi, LTE-M and NB-IoT
  • LoRa and LoRaWAN
  • Ethernet, CAN, Modbus, RS-485
  • USB and MIDI
  • Secure communication with the cloud

Lifecycle

Bootloaders, updates and low power

Everything a device needs to live in the field for years.

  • Bootloaders and OTA updates
  • Low-power design and battery life
  • Diagnostics and logging
  • Production programming and test firmware
  • Documentation and handover

FAQ

Common questions

Which microcontrollers do you work with?

Mostly STM32, ESP32 and Nordic nRF, plus others when the project calls for it. We pick the part together with the hardware, based on the job and on availability.

Can you write firmware for a board we already have?

Yes. We need the schematic and a few boards. If the hardware has problems, we tell you early and suggest fixes.

Do you use an RTOS?

When it helps. Simple devices run bare-metal; connected devices with several tasks usually run FreeRTOS or Zephyr.

How do you hand over the code?

As a Git repository with build instructions, documentation and tests. Your team can build and change it without us.
